Health Ministry Finalizes ‘Biomedical Research Human Subjects Promotion and Regulation Bill’
In a major development the union health ministry has professionally finalized the ‘Biomedical Research Human Subjects Promotion and Regulation Bill’. This important bill actively protects the human subjects used in any form of scientific research. It holds well for any behavioral or intrusive performed by an academic institution or pharmaceutical company.
This major potent bill was expediently prepared by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The bill is literally been lying in cold storage since 2004 after the first draft was created. It was marveled and later it was blossomed by the law ministry in January, 2006. After many steps the bill still could not be cleared due to numerous objections from different quarters. Now after potent steps taken by the present ICMR director General Dr V M Katoch the bill was back on the track with priority basis.
